Body Image Support for Schools

To support our young people, Torbay Council and Devon County Council Public Health teams have teamed up to develop some resources in partnership with the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs). A fantastic three-part series of videos on body image is now available: one for children and young people, one for whole school staff, and one for parents/carers. The focus is on years 5-8 (the key transition years) and accompanying worksheets for the pupil video and information on further support are also available. The best part is the videos are available for free to all schools in Torbay and Devon, even if you do not yet have an MHST in your school!

The videos are designed to:

  • Raise awareness in school staff around body image in the context of children’s wellbeing and education
  • Support children to understand and recognise factors that contribute to their body image
  • Empower children with the knowledge and tools to feel good about themselves
  • Equip schools with the knowledge and tools to create an inclusive environment that encourages good body image
  • Raise awareness in parents/carers around body image in children
