The Torbay Cooks Network meets once a term. The network is a great way of sharing news with colleagues, finding solutions to common issues and sharing ideas and best practice. The network provides ongoing support (particularly to in-house school catering staff) and discusses current topics such as the recent changes to allergen legislation, School Food Standards, menu planning, food safety, staff training, vegetarian catering, the dining environment and Food for Life Awards as examples.
The network also enables schools to come under one umbrella - strengthening members in areas such as negotiating purchase prices and contract values. The network has suppliers regularly attend with updated group prices and school food compliant products. The network recently arranged group training across member schools at reduced rates and is planning to engage guest speakers to discuss current issues and develop training and CPD options.
