The Mental Health Foundation has published a report looking at the key things that challenge and support young people’s mental health. Findings from an online survey of 2,522 young people aged 16-25 in the UK showed that: 21% said that the main place where they live has had a negative effect on their mental health, and 27% said they often feel isolated from others.

Recommendations include: providing resources to parents and carers to help them to be consistent sources of support for their children; ensuring that as part of their education children are equipped with the skills they need to understand, talk about and manage challenging feelings; and ensuring that effective early support is available for young people’s mental health that considers young people’s views on what makes support acceptable and accessible.
